Job Opportunity: Kosciuszko Foundation Visiting Professor at the University of Warsaw

The Dean of the Faculty of Artes Liberales, University of Warsaw, in cooperation with the President of the Kosciuszko Foundation, Inc., is accepting applications for the position of the Kosciuszko Foundation Visiting Professor

The position is co-sponsored by the Kosciuszko Foundation, Inc. and the University of Warsaw.

The duration of the stay is five months (Academic year 2024/25 from February 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025). The position is open to senior American scholars from U.S. universities with accomplishments in humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences. Proficiency in the Polish language is not required as all classes will be taught in English.

The visiting professor will be appointed by the Collegium Artes Liberales, which is a part of the Faculty of Artes Liberales and offers courses to all students of the University of Warsaw.

The Collegium has developed a unique program inspired by the curricula of U.S. colleges of liberal arts and sciences. It seeks to restore awareness of the affinities between the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences and to nurture creative thinking and civic responsibility.

The teaching load is 60 hours (3 courses) per semester (6 hours a week). The position also requires at least two office hours a week.

The appointee is expected to give at least two public lectures and participate in the academic life of the Collegium and the University. The visiting professor is expected to reside in the Warsaw area during the semester and throughout the term of the professorship.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in a discipline of the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences and substantial research and teaching experience.

The letter of application should include the following:
– Short descriptions of possible courses which the candidate might teach.
– A description of the candidate’s current research interests.

Their authors should email letters of recommendation and the other mentioned documents as separate scanned PDF files. The University of Warsaw offers a competitive salary. The position is offered for five months. Accommodation is not provided, and the University does not cover travel expenses.
